This summer nine volunteers will be going to the North of Zambia for two month where we will work with Green Living Movement (www.greenlivingmovement.org) – a Zambian NGO – to assist in the construction of a hammer mill for grinding maize. The mill will have massive implications for the rural community in this region, through sustainable agriculture and crop marketing, as well as building the capacity amongst local people to take control over their lives.

We have a group fundraising target of £6,600 by May 2008, which will help us to buy:

ü      Hammer mill machinery

ü      Cement

ü      Iron sheets and Timber

ü      Doors, window and door frames, glass panes

ü      Paint

ü      Construction tools.

 

None of the money raised will go towards individual volunteers’ costs. If you would like the opportunity to get involved in such a worthwhile cause we would love to hear from you and any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly received.

 

Alternatively, for larger donations we are also offering the opportunity of sponsorship. As a group we will be doing a lot of fundraising and promotional events in and around Edinburgh in the coming months. This will be predominantly within the student population, however will also reach members of the wider community. There will be varied and wide opportunities at these events to promote your company in partnership with EGP Zambia, through logos, leaflets and banners.
